1. Under the University's Regulations Governing Degree Examinations and the Guidelines for Applying for Degree Examinations and Graduation Clearance, graduate students who meet the requirements may apply for the degree examination.
2. Online application period: from the first day of classes, 17 February 2025, to 15 May 2025. Where a department has stricter rules, those rules apply. Please observe the application and completion deadlines; late applications must be deferred to the following semester.
3. Deadline for holding the examination and submitting original score reports: once the application is approved, up to 31 July 2025. The summary score sheet and individual score sheets must reach the Curriculum and Instruction Section by 5:00 p.m. on 31 July 2025.
4. Deadline for online withdrawal: 31 July 2025. Students unable to complete the examination by the deadline must withdraw their application for that semester before the examination deadline. Failure to either withdraw or hold the examination will be recorded as one failed attempt (under Article 61 of the University Academic Regulations, the maximum score for a retake is 70 and only one retake is permitted).
5. For application procedures, see the Degree Examination Application Process, thesis format templates and related regulations, and the required forms. Download path: University website / Administrative Units / Office of Academic Affairs / "Quick Links / Graduate Thesis Section" and "Forms / 22-1 Application for Graduate Degree Examination". URL: https://aax.yuntech.edu.tw/index.php/ql-ct/student-paper
6. Online application system: University homepage / Single Sign-On Portal / Academic Affairs Information System / Graduate Thesis / "Application for Graduate Degree Examination" and "Print (Withdraw) Certification and Score Sheet".
7. The "Print (Withdraw) Certification and Score Sheet" interface allows students to revise their thesis title until the oral examination results are submitted. Students must verify their title carefully: under University regulations, once the results are submitted and recorded, neither the Chinese nor the English thesis title may be changed.
8. Application for deferred public release of the thesis: students who do not apply at the time of the degree examination application may not apply later. Following the directive of the 2nd Intellectual Property Advocacy and Enforcement Committee meeting of AY 111 (16 June 2023), and in preparation for the AY 113 institutional evaluation, departments are reminded that deferred public release is limited to cases involving a patent, classified information, or material legally prohibited from disclosure. Supporting documents must be attached and the application approved at a departmental meeting. Per correspondence from the National Central Library, theses are in principle open for public reading; the option to defer on the grounds of "preparing the thesis for journal submission" has been removed, and the form was revised in 2024 to add options such as electronic full text. Students must comply with the University's review mechanism and submit the current version of the deferral application form together with supporting documents at the time of the degree examination application, for approval at a dedicated departmental meeting. Required supporting documents:
(1) Patent: provide the application case number.
(2) Classified information: provide the statutory basis, supporting evidence, or a confidentiality agreement.
(3) Legally prohibited from disclosure: provide the statutory basis.
9. From AY 109 onward, students must complete an originality check on their thesis before the degree examination, for reference by the examination committee. Where a department has set a threshold, that threshold applies. See University Library / Thesis Originality Check / "Turnitin".
10. Departmental administrators' system rights run until 20 May 2025. Departments should complete collection by 20 May and forward eligible applications to the College and the Office of Academic Affairs for subsequent approval.
11. Students who pass the degree examination and graduate this semester must submit the final revised thesis, approved by the Library and bound with a laminated cover, to both the Library and the Curriculum and Instruction Section (one copy each) before the diploma collection deadline of 29 August 2025 (one copy is forwarded to the National Central Library as required by the Degree Conferral Act). Students who pass the examination but do not graduate this semester retain their passing grade; if the maximum study period has not expired, the year and month on the thesis cover should follow the actual semester of graduation for both the uploaded and printed versions.
Note 1: The Curriculum and Instruction Section collects theses of graduating students of the current semester for forwarding to the National Central Library. Students should submit during the period from "start of graduation clearance procedures" to "diploma collection deadline" as announced in the Registration Section's academic calendar. Outside this period, please apply under the rules for the Application for Early Graduation and Diploma Issuance (accepted until Week 15, and only for students not taking courses in the current semester). For graduation clearance details, see the Registration Section's announcement or call extension 2215.
★ Change effective from 113-1:
"External degree examination committee members who are faculty no longer need to provide a teaching certificate number." From this semester, the mandatory field "Rank and Certificate Number" has been removed for external committee members who currently hold or have held the rank of professor, associate professor, or assistant professor. ※ For external members, the system will not auto-fill previously stored data after the name is entered.
